How to Check Your PF Balance with UAN Number: A Complete Guide
The Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) is a crucial savings tool for employees in India, helping them build a secure financial future post-retirement. One of the key features of the EPF system is the Universal Account Number (UAN), a unique identification number allotted to every EPF member. The UAN allows employees to access and manage their EPF account with ease, including checking their balance.
In this post, we will walk you through the latest methods to check your EPF balance using your UAN number, as well as the benefits of having a UAN-linked account.
What is UAN?
The Universal Account Number (UAN) is a 12-digit unique number issued by the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) to every employee covered under the EPF scheme. The UAN serves as a permanent ID for your EPF account, making it easier to track, manage, and withdraw your funds.
With a UAN, employees can transfer their EPF balance across different employers, check their EPF balance online, and avail of several other services through the EPFO portal or mobile app.
Why is UAN Important?
- Single ID for Multiple Jobs: Your UAN is linked to all your previous and current EPF accounts, making it easier to transfer balances from one account to another when you switch jobs.
- Ease of Access: With UAN, you don’t need to remember different EPF numbers for different jobs. It also helps in tracking all EPF-related activities in one place.
- Online Services: With UAN, you can access a variety of EPF services online, including checking your balance, withdrawing or transferring funds, and updating KYC details.
How to Check Your EPF Balance with UAN Number
There are multiple ways to check your EPF balance using your UAN. These methods include checking via the EPFO website, the EPFO mobile app, missed call service, and SMS service. Let’s explore each of these methods in detail.
1. Checking EPF Balance Using the EPFO Portal (Online)
One of the most popular and convenient methods to check your EPF balance is through the EPFO member portal. If you have a UAN and your KYC (Know Your Customer) details are updated, you can easily access your EPF balance online.
